How to Care For Clear Braces

It’s not uncommon to find adults and children that have crooked or misaligned teeth. In many cases, orthodontists recommend braces treatment. It’s estimated that approximately 25% to 50% of children require orthodontic treatment, according to the American Association of Orthodontists. Clear braces are an attractive aesthetic option for adults and children who prefer less-visible orthodontic treatment. That said, after getting clear braces, it’s important to know how to care for them to achieve excellent results at the end of the treatment. Below are some suggestions for caring for clear braces.

Brush Your Teeth More Than Twice a Day

You should not be satisfied with cleaning your teeth solely in the morning and evening if you wear clear braces. Brushing at least three times daily ensures that your clear brackets are free of food particles. If you consume dark-colored drinks, particularly black coffee or soda, you should wash your teeth immediately after. An electric toothbrush can help avoid tooth discoloration and discoloration of the clear, ceramic brackets.

Avoid Teeth-Staining Foods

Avoiding staining foods and drinks decreases the chances of tooth or bracket discoloration. Examples of such include tea, coffee, and alcohol. If you do consume these, bring along an electric toothbrush so you can clean your teeth and brackets right after to avoid any discoloration.

Don’t Forget to Floss

Flossing is beneficial when it comes to eliminating food particles lodged in your teeth and braces. Brushing your teeth isn’t enough to get rid of all the stuff stuck between your teeth, so floss no less than once each day to avoid issues like bacteria buildup, gingivitis and severe tooth discoloration.

Contact Your Orthodontist If Something’s Off

Contact your orthodontist immediately if something appears wrong or damaged. They can assist you in resolving any difficulty. It’s never a bad idea to notify your orthodontist if something appears off.
If you’ve invested time and money into getting clear braces, it’s essential that you care for them so you can achieve your smile goals. To learn more about this or other orthodontic treatment options, or to schedule a complimentary consultation, contact Imagine Braces, today!
